‘Teachers can play a significant role in developing district’

Parents asked to send their children to school

Chamarajanagar: Chamarajanagar MP R. Dhruvanarayan has stressed on the need to give more priority to professional education to tap the employment potential in future.

He was speaking after unveiling the portrait of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan at a function organised to celebrate Teachers’ Day here on Saturday.

According to Mr. Dhruvanarayan, the role of teachers was very important in developing the backward district of Chamarajanagar.

He called upon the teachers and students to follow the ideals of the former president of India, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan to become good citizens. He appealed to all parents to send their children to schools.

Mr. Dhruvanarayan said four new IIT and six IIM colleges which will be established in the country would provide more opportunities for students interested to take up higher education.

He said the National Knowledge Commission, headed by Sam Pitroda, has submitted a proposal to the Union Government to open 150 universities across the country so that more number of interested persons can pursue higher education.

The district-level Best Teacher awards were given away on the occasion.

Zilla panchayat president C.A. Mahadeva Shetty presided over the function.

Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Meena and CEO of the zilla panchayat K. Sundar Nayak were among others present.
