DAVANGERE: The appointment of a Tamil Nadu agency to supply nutrition powder to anganwadi centres in the State has been criticised by the Karnataka State Anganwadi Workers’ and Assistants’ Federation. The federation has said that pregnant women and new mothers find the food prepared from the powder unpalatable. Federation president H.K. Ramachandrappa and vice-president Vishalakshi Mruthyanjaya said that the State Government used to release a certain amount of nutritious foodgrains to be supplied to pregnant women and new mothers. However, eight months ago, the Government had stopped the supply and appointed an agency to supply nutrition powder to the anganwadis.

Ms. Mruthyanjaya urged the Government to withdraw the contract given to the agency.
