HUBLI: The Hubli police have taken into custody 10 persons belonging to two communities in connection with a stone throwing incident that occurred at Asar Mohalla in Old Hubli on Friday night.

Police Commissioner Narayan Nadamani said that some more persons are likely to be taken into custody. The situation was brought under control on Friday night itself, he said.

A quarrel reportedly broke out between two youths over a petty issue while they were playing carrom. The quarrel led to a fight. Later one of them along with his friends went to Shikkaligar Tanda at Asar Mohalla and allegedly threw stones at the house of the other youth. The incident resulted in damages to some houses and two wheelers and few suffered minor injuries. Consequently, another group reportedly resorted to stone-throwing pelting at Asar Honda.

Tension prevailed for a while following the incident. Police intervened immediately and brought the situation under control. Two separate cases have been registered at the Old Hubli Police station.
