Hubli Electricity Supply Company (Hescom) has earmarked Rs. 496.36 crore for the Nirantar Jyothi Yojane and Rs. 353.64 crore for the R-APDRP schemes, which were expected to be completed by 2012, said Hescom Managing Director Pankaj Kumar Pandey.
Making a presentation on the public hearing on the proposed hike power tariff held by Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission here on Wednesday, Mr. Pandey said apart from these major schemes, Hescom had earmarked Rs. 171.16 crore for mandatory works, social obligations, setting up of new feeders; Rs. 113.98 crore for expansion of network and system improvement works; and Rs. 94.74 crore for reduction of transmission and distribution losses.
Hescom has taken several steps to check T&D loss, including focusing on regularising the unauthorised irrigation pumpsets, fixing of 1.25 lakh meters and replacement of age-old energy meters by static meters in all 31 towns under R-APDRP scheme.
Three hundred 11-kv link- lines have been taken up for evacuation of power from substations and for overloaded feeders and feeder managers were being appointed.
Mr. Pandey stated that Hescom had achieved good growth in demand collection.
