A general alert has been sounded by the State police in view of possible revenge attacks following the execution of terrorist Ajmal Kasab, Deputy Chief Minister R. Ashok said on Monday. Speaking after inaugurating two new police stations in Amruthahalli and Sampaingehalli, he said there have been debates and controversies following Kasab’s hanging. “We believe that terror groups may be planning attacks in Karnataka and the State police have taken adequate measures to thwart any such attempt, Mr. Ashok said.

Around 3,000 security personnel have been deputed to provide security cover at the major installations and high-security industrial and nuclear installations in the State. Besides, security in sensitive areas has been beefed up, he said.
