A.H. Vishwanath, MP for Mysore, has criticised the State government’s “failure” to protect the interests of Karnataka on the Cauvery waters issue.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he demanded that the government file a review petition in the Supreme Court against the notification of the final award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal.

“If the State government exists, it should stop wasting time on petty politics and take some concrete measures and file a review petition in the apex court,” he said.

Criticising Jagadish Shettar, the MP said the Chief Minister had told the apex court that there was no objection from the State to the final notification, but later took a contrary stance and appealed to the Prime Minister not to notify the final award. “The BJP is misleading the people of the State,” he alleged.
