The former Union Minister and Karnataka Janata Paksha leader V. Dhananjaya Kumar has said that by month-end the BJP government in Karnataka would collapse and the question of the Chief Minister presenting the State budget would not arise at all.

Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, Mr. Dhananjaya Kumar said that the BJP government didn’t have the authority to present the State budget as it had already lost the moral right to continue in power.

He said that the BJP government in the State had no authority to present the budget for the year 2013-14 and it could only seek a vote-on-account to meet the expenses of the State machinery till the next government was sworn in.

“If the State government dares to go ahead with presenting the State budget despite not having the authority to do so, the Karnataka Janata Paksha would launch a Statewide movement against it”, he said.

Mr. Dhananjaya Kumar said that the Governor should also take note of the existing political situation and direct the Chief Minister to seek only a vote-on-account instead of presenting the budget. “Otherwise we will be forced to launch an agitation”, he added.

He said that KJP was functioning like an Opposition party now and it would urge the Chief Minister to seek a vote-on-account and not to resort to the exercise of presenting the State budget before the elections.

In reply to a query, Mr. Dhananjaya Kumar said he wanted to know why the Congress had not moved the no-confidence motion against the State government. “Outside the Vidhana Soudha, leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah speaks a great deal, but when it comes to action, his party fails to move a no-confidence motion though the common man is facing problems under the BJP government”, he said.

Conspiracy theory

Mr. Dhananjay Kumar alleged that BJP leader Ananth Kumar had conspired to get Mr. Jagadish Shettar declared as the next Chief Ministerial candidate solely with the intention of blaming him for the party’s debacle in the next polls. Mr. Ananth Kumar has been conspiring to assume power in the State for quite long a time now and now he has made Mr. Jagadish Shettar his ‘sacrificial lamb’, he said.

He claimed that the KJP had enrolled five lakh people as members and besides that many from the BJP and other parties were joining it. He claimed that besides the 14 MLAs who took part in the KJP convention at Haveri, there were several other BJP leaders who were with the KJP and they would come out openly in support of it shortly.
