Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission Chairman C.S. Dwarakanath minced no words in calling the BJP Government in Karnataka as Backward Classes as one that has “constantly bulldozed the interests of backward classes”, citing its “non-cooperation” to conduct caste-based survey as the most telling instance of the government's indifference.
Mr. Dwarakanath told presspersons here on Thursday that the Government had not extended help even after the panel had submitted a calendar of events to conduct the survey. The commission had spent two years and 10 months of its tenure making elaborate preparations for the census to no avail, he added.
“The Government has virtually been lying that they are extending full support to the survey,” Mr. Dwarakanath said, while providing no infrastructure for the commission's functioning and constantly throwing hurdles in its way.
Mr. Dwarakanath said that they were forced to present the report first to the Governor because their meeting with the Chief Minister was not confirmed till late this morning.
