An employee of a jewellery manufacturing unit in Malleswaram, who was stabbed in the neck allegedly by his colleague on Monday night, lay bleeding for over 10 hours but still miraculously survived.

The victim, Kishan (32), a native of Andhra Pradesh, was living on the first floor of the unit along with his colleague Sheikh Hasan (28) a native of West Bengal. While Kishan was a year old in the factory, Hasan joined only a month back.

Fight over leave

Malleswaram police said Kishan and Hasan had a fight over leave, as the latter wanted to go back to West Bengal. Kishan told Hasan he could take leave only after informing the factory owner as he (Kishan) had no authority to grant him leave.

“On Monday night around nine, Hasan again brought up the issue and both had an argument,” a senior police official said.

Matters escalated between the two and Hasan grabbed a kitchen knife, stabbing Kishan in the neck.

While Kishan fell on the ground, Hasan locked the premises and fled.

The incapacitated Kishan was discovered on Tuesday morning around nine, when the owner, Suresh Kumar, unlocked the premises and found his employee in a pool of blood. He immediately called the police and an ambulance.

The police, now looking for Hasan, think he may have left for his native place. They said nothing was stolen from the factory.
