B. Sriramulu, the former Health Minister now contesting as an Independent in the byelection to Bellary (Rural) Assembly Constituency, reiterated his plans to form a new political party.

“Keeping in view the need to face two major political parties in the State, I plan to launch a new party. I am already in touch with intellectuals and several politicians in this regard. To start with, the proposed party will focus on north Karnataka. The proposed party will take concrete shape immediately after the release of G. Janardhan Reddy from jail,” Mr. Sriramulu told presspersons at Vakrani camp while taking a break from his poll campaign.

“People have been wanting a change,” he said and added that it was too early to say whether he would be heading the new party.

He made it clear that he would not return to the Bharatiya Janata Party fold again, and predicted a mid-term poll in the next six months.
