‘Things are not the same as they were a couple of years ago’

B. Sriramulu, MLA and president of the BSR Congress, has appealed to the people to support him and his party.

Speaking at the mass marriage function, organised by him here on Friday, Mr. Sriramulu said, “People of the State may not support me, my friend G. Janardhan Reddy and my party. But, I appeal to the people of Bellary district to support us. If people of this district don’t , then who else will. We will not commit anything wrong,” he said.

Desperate

The repeated appeals indicated that he was desperate after losing power and his friend Mr. Janardhan Reddy getting jailed.

Mr. Sriramulu said that things had not remained the same as they were a couple of years ago. “We are passing through difficult times and I was apprehensive about organising the mass marriage. Mr. Janardhan Reddy, however, advised me to continue the good social work, keeping in view the plight of poor people, who cannot afford to perform the marriage of their daughters. As per his wish, undeterred by the difficulties and challenges, the function was organised and conducted peacefully. However, I am depressed and pained by the absence of my friend. It is not the power but the relationship we have developed which is permanent, and I hope you will support us.”

Conspiracy

Mr. Sriramulu used the forum to train his guns against the Congress by accusing it of conspiring to send Mr. Janardhan Reddy to jail by getting false cases framed against him. “The Congress organised the Bangalore-Bellary padayatra only to come to power and target Mr. Janardhan Reddy. It projected him in bad light. Although Mr. Janardhan Reddy has not committed any wrong, he has been made to languish in jail,” he said.

Mr. Sriramulu challenged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to get the mining activities revived to mitigate the plight of the working class.

Film actress Puja Gandhi, legislators Mrutyunjaya Jinaga and T.H. Sureshbabu, MPs Sanna Phakkirappa and J. Shantha, and many leaders of the BSR Congress were present.
