Founder of BSR Congress and former Minister B. Sriramulu has urged the Governor to recommend Central rule in the State as the BJP government has lost majority in the Assembly.
The government lost majority the moment 14 MLAs attended the Karnataka Janata Paksha Haveri convention. Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar had no plans to resign, and hence the Governor should recommend President’s Rule, he said.
After B.S. Yeddyurappa took over the reins of the KJP, most Ministers and legislators had moved away from the BJP. It was only a matter of time that all of them deserted the party, he said.
Mr. Sriramulu accused the BJP of being a party whose only aim was to divide people on the basis of caste and religion. “Every BJP leader in the State is busy dividing the State on caste lines,” he said.
The former Minister said that the Opposition in Karnataka was no different, and every one was equally guilty of dividing people on caste lines. What was more, leaders were working towards confining their parties to their own caste groups. This was not a good development, he said. “BSR Congress is the only secular party where every caste group has equal opportunities,” he claimed.
Mr. Sriramulu said that if voted to power, BSR Congress would provide free foodgrains and unemployment allowance to the youth. Ayaz Khan, who runs the Noor chain of educational institutions, joined the BSR Congress.
