B. Sriramulu, Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from the Bellary Lok Sabha constituency has been granted anticipatory bail in connection with the cheque bounce case and issuing a threat. L. Somanna, president of the Mysore district unit of the BSR Congress, had lodged a complaint against Mr. Sriramulu for issuing a threat and for non-repayment of a loan of Rs. 2.96 crore. Mr. Somanna, in his complaint, said he had given Rs. 2.96 crore to Mr. Sriramulu on the assurance that he would get him BJP ticket to contest from the Raichur parliamentary constituency.

Later, Mr. Somanna claimed that the cheque for Rs. 2.96 crore, given to him by Mr. Sriramulu, could not be cleared. When Mr. Somanna told Mr. Sriramulu about the situation, the latter threatened him, he alleged.

Anticipating an arrest in the case, Mr. Sriramulu had applied for anticipatory bail.
