The former Bagepalli MLA G.V. Srirama Reddy has been elected State secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, Mr. Reddy said that the office-bearers of the State secretariat were elected on the last day of the four-day State Conference of the CPI (M), which concluded here on Wednesday. Along with Mr. Reddy, 23 members have been elected to the State Secretariat.

 Mr. Reddy succeeds V.J.K. Nair, who was the State secretary for over three years.
