The second DVG award instituted by the DVG Balaga Mysore was conferred on writer and social activist S.R. Ramaswamy here on Sunday.
The award was conferred by noted writer and Saraswati Samman Award-winner S.L. Bhyrappa, who said that literature in present times had failed to reflect the social mores of contemporary society. Dr. Ramaswamy recalled his association with D.V. Gundappa during his speech.
The DVG Balaga Mysore, a literary club started in 2012 in the city, had conferred the first award on Nadahally Ranganatha Sharma in the previous year. Dr. Ramaswamy was conferred the award for his contribution to the field of literature.
The organisers noted that he played an important role in compiling the major works of DVG, including Gnapaka Chitrashaale and Jeevanadharmayoga . In addition, Dr. Ramaswamy is the author of more than 50 books in Kannada and English and has many translations to his credit. C. Kanakaraju of DVG Balaga was present.
