The Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture among Youth (SPIC MACAY) will organise a three-day State convention, Ninaad, in Hassan from Thursday. A workshop for students and performances by well-known classical musicians and dancers will be held as part of the convention.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, State coordinator of SPIC MACAY Vidya Harish said that the event would be held in association with Malnad College of Engineering, SDM Ayurvedic College and Vijaya English School in Hassan.

Nearly 500 students from across the State will take part in the workshop to be conducted by well-known artistes, including R.K. Srikantan, Chandan Kumar, Sombala Saatle, Praveen Kumar, Vyjayanti Kashi, and Manjula Moorthy. The workshop would be conducted on the MCE campus.

Besides this, concerts would be held at Hasanamba Kalakshetra on all three days, including an overnight performance on February 9.

Artistes

Among those who will perform are R.K. Srikantan (Carnatic vocal), N. Rajam (Hindustani violin), Keremane Shivananda Hegde and his troupe (Yakshagana), Sujata Mohapatra (Odissi dance), Ustad Shahid Parvez (Hindustani sitar), Vyjayanti Kashi (Kuchipudi), Praveen Kumar (Bharatanatyam), Lalgudi G.J.R. Krishnan (Violin), Chandan Kumar (Carnatic flute), Ganapati Bhat (Hindustani vocal) and Sombala Saatle (Dhrupad).
