  • Quays planned at Kochi, Beypore and Mangalore
  • Planning Commission has approved proposal
  • KAVARATTI: Exclusive quays will be provided at Kochi, Beypore and Mangalore for passengers to Lakshadweep to board their vessels. The Planning Commission has approved the administration's proposal to construct dedicated quays. The project is estimated to cost Rs. 28 crore.

Administrator B.V. Selvaraj said the dedicated quays would ensure better turnaround of passengers.

The administration will soon procure from Singapore three vessels capable of carrying 150 passengers each. These vessels, with a speed of 29.5 knots, will be pressed into service between islands, he said.

All vessels of the administration, except MV Tipu Sultan and MV Bharat Seema, will stop their services from May 15 because of rough seas.
