BANGALORE: Reserve Bank of India Governor D. Subbarao on Tuesday took a class on the functioning of the RBI and the banking system for 750 students of the Government Higher Primary School and the Government Pre-University College at Doddaballavangala village.

Dr. Subbarao explained four major functions of the bankers’ bank (RBI): price stability to keep inflation within acceptable limits, support for the country’s economic growth, financial stability, and issuing currency. Students had questions for the RBI staff on issues such as fake currency, inflation and the qualification required to become the RBI Governor.

The RBI Governor felicitated four students who secured the highest marks in the tenth standard and second-year pre-university examinations.
