The mood was sombre at Souvik Pal’s residence in Hebbal on Thursday morning as the family awaited the body of the 19-year-old from London, which was being brought from the Bengaluru International Airport where it arrived from London shortly after 8 a.m.

Souvik’s body was found in the Bridge water canal near Old Trafford area nearly 22 days after he went missing on New Year’s Eve. He was last seen at the Warehouse Project nightclub in Manchester.

The body arrived at the residence around noon. Souvik’s family members broke down at the sight of the body. Half-an-hour later, the van left the residence and headed towards the Hebbal crematorium.

Speaking to reporters later, Mr. Pal said: “The investigation is yet to be completed and the police have said they will get back to us.” The autopsy reports from the Manchester Hospital have termed cause of death as “inconclusive”.
