World Tiger Day will be celebrated jointly by the Mysore zoo and the National Cadet Corps at the zoo on July 29.
About 150 cadets are expected to participate in the programme to create awareness about tiger conservation, a press release said here. The cadets will be taken around the zoo from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. This will be followed by activities to enrich some animal enclosures. The participants will later visit the zoo hospital where they will see a demonstration of tranquilising equipment. The tiger keeper will share his experiences and interact with the participants at 2 p.m. This will be followed by a talk on tiger.
Volunteers of the zoo will be involved in organising events as part of the programme, according to the release.
Planting of saplings and construction of wooden platforms would be taken up as part of enriching select enclosures, the release added.
