Gold worth Rs. 1.06 crore recovered from the arrested: SP

The police have achieved a major breakthrough in the heist that occurred more than a year ago in the Kadaganchi branch of State Bank of India in Gulbarga district with the arrest of six persons four days ago.

Superintendent of Police Amit Singh, who was present at a press conference addressed by Home Minister T.J. George here on Tuesday, said that the police had also recovered 230 gm gold and Rs. 5 lakh in cash from them.

Earlier, the burglars had entered the Kadaganchi branch of State Bank of India in Aland taluk of Gulbarga district on October 13, 2012, and escaped with gold ornaments worth Rs. 1.06 crore and Rs. 46 lakh in cash, cleaning up all bank lockers and cash chest.

The police officer said that all the six persons, whose names were not revealed, had been remanded to judicial custody.
