DAVANGERE: The police have arrested six persons involved in selling fake iridium.

They have recovered the fake iridium and a car.

Superintendent of Police Sandeep Patil said on Thursday that the gang was planning to transport the fake iridium to Bagalkot when they were arrested by the special crime branch of the district police.


The arrested persons are Imayath, T. Mohammed Ghouse, M.R. Alabakshi, Sukur Sab and Sanaulla of Jagalur and Maru Gowda of Belgaum district. The mastermind of the racket is one Aslam of Bangalore.

The police are on the lookout for Aslam.

‘Rare metal’

The modus operandi of the gang was to spread a rumour that some people had found a rare metal in an interior village and later sell the “rare metal” to industrialists.

Similar racket

The Vidyanagar police busted a similar racket some months ago.
