The Gulbarga district police claimed a major breakthrough in solving a series of chain-snatching incidents in the city with the arrest of six persons on Wednesday.

Superintendent of Police Praveen M. Pawar said that the special team arrested Syed Fayaz, Tipu Irfan, Mohd Rafiq Salim, Mohd Anwar, Sheikh Jaffer and Mohd Jaffer, all aged between 22 and 25. With the arrest, the police claimed to have solved 32 cases of chain-snatching in the last few months in different parts of the city, including GDA Colony at Santraswadi, Tilak Nagar, M.B. Nagar, Gubbi Colony, Prashant Nagar, Bank Colony and Jagat Circle.

He said the police had recovered gold ornaments worth Rs. 12 lakh from the arrested and seized three motorbikes used to snatch chains from women.
