Hundreds of people witnessed the colourful Mangalore dasara procession in the city on Monday. The procession, which started from Gokarnanatheswara Temple at Kudroli at 4 p.m. ended at the temple early on Tuesday after passing through Mannagudda, Lady Hill Circle, Lalbagh, P.V.S. Circle, Navbharat Circle, K.S. Rao Road, Hampankatta, Ganapathi High School Road, Car Street and Alake.

The decorated lights on the roads added glitter to the procession.

The idols of Ganapathi, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmandini, Siddidatri, Maha Gouri, Maha Kali, Kathyayini, Skanda Mata, Aadi Shakthi and Shailaputri and Narayana Guru were taken out in the procession.

According to the temple committee more than 100 tableaux participated in the procession.

Among the tableaux was one depicting the ‘Bhasmasura Mohini’ story from the mythology.

Huli vesha (tiger dance) by different artistes attracted many viewers.

At the same time many people participated in the car festival of Mangaladevi temple at Bolar. The Navaratri festival at the temple drew many devotees. The Vijayadashami was also celebrated at Durgaparameshwari temples at Bappanadu and Kateel.

Devotees thronged many ‘devi’ temples on Monday, the last day of Navaratri, in other parts of Dakshina Kannada.
