State Information Commissioner M.R. Pujar has objected to the Gulbarga City Corporation (GCC) not following the directions of the State Information Commission (SIC) to provide information pertaining to the annual contract for sweeping roads in Gulbarga city to Shaikh Shafi Ahmed, and the Public Information Officer (PIO) of the city corporation for not attending the hearings of the commission for four successive sitting from February 2012.

Mr. Pujar, in an order passed a few weeks ago, had directed the GCC Commissioner Shrikant Kattimani to furnish the information within 15 days in writing. Further, Mr. Kattimani has been directed to instruct the PIO to provide the remaining information indicated in the SIC’s order passed on February 14.

The SIC said the PIO should present a report on action taken in the next hearing fixed on November 29 in Bangalore. The SIC said in its order the PIO was wasting its time by being absent for hearings and not complying with the directions issued. Mr. Pujar in his order said even the GCC Commissioner failed to comply with the directions of the commission. The SIC had asked Mr. Kattimani to furnish the details of officers who worked from December 13, 2010 to January 15, 2013 as PIOs, to issue show-cause notice. The SIC had requested this information thrice earlier.
