Special scheme to be offered only till July 31 Deve Gowda to inaugurate golden jubilee function on July 1

SHIMOGA: The Shimoga District Central Cooperative Bank (SDCCB) has announced a new deposit scheme, "Suvarna Kalpa Vruksha", on the occasion of its golden jubilee to be celebrated on July 1.

Bank president R.M. Manjunath Gowda told presspersons that the new deposit scheme, under which 9 per cent interest would be paid, would be in force till July 31. The minimum term for the deposit under this scheme was five years.

Mr. Gowda said the innovative scheme of the bank to sell chemical fertilisers produced by the cooperative fertilizer factories such as IFFCO and KRIBCO had become popular among farmers. He said the scheme launched by Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa at Shikaripur recently would be extended to the entire district. He said over 100 truckloads of fertilizers had been sold in the Shikaripur taluk since the scheme was launched.

The primary cooperative societies, which would buy the chemical fertilizers directly from factories, would sell it to farmers at a rebate of Rs. 10 per bag.

Manjunath Gowda said the former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda would inaugurate the golden jubilee celebration while Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy would inaugurate the golden jubilee hall. He said Deputy Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa would inaugurate the Sahyadri Training Centre of the bank while Shimoga MP S. Bangarappa would release the souvenir "Suvarna Giri" brought out on the occasion.
