Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar would address a public meeting in Udupi on Friday to kick-start the Bharatiya Janata Party’s election campaign in the coastal Karnataka.

Udaykumar Shetty, president of the district unit of the BJP, told reporters here Tuesday that Mr. Shettar would participate in the ‘Vijay Sankalpa Samavesha’ at 11 a.m. along with Paroled Joshi, president of State unit of BJP and H.N. Anant Kumar, general secretary of the BJP.

When asked about the party’s candidates for the Assembly elections from the district, Mr. Shetty said the district unit had sent a list of names for all the five Assembly constituencies. The State unit of the party would finalise the names of the candidates, Mr. Shetty said.

BJP leaders Katapady Shankar Poojary, Shyamala Kundar, Sandhya, Geetanjali Suvarna, and Ravi Amin, were present.
