A sum of Rs 51 crore has been spent on rejuvenation of ancient temples and construction of community halls in Hosadurga taluk, Gulihatti Shekhar, MLA, has said.
Inaugurating a function organised by the district administration, the Department of Sports and Youth Services to mark the opening of Yuva Bhavan, constructed on the premises of Halurameshwar temple in Hosadurga taluk here on Monday, he stated that of the Rs. 51 crore spent so far, Rs. 25 crore was used for rejuvenation of temples and construction of Dasoha Bhavan, Rs. 20 crore for community halls, and Rs. 6 crore for construction of a commercial complex on Hosadurga stadium premises, he said.
He claimed that during his tenure as Sports and Youth Services Minister, he had sanctioned Rs 1.15 crore for the construction of Yuva Bhavan at Halurameshwar for visitors. The Police Department had been asked to initiate stringent action against those who indulged in illegal activities like gambling, consumption of liquor and smoking and spoiled the atmosphere. “The devotees and the people in nearby villages should inform the authorities concerned about such activities,” he said.
