The Department of Public Instruction will hold ‘Shala Prarambhotsava’ in government schools on Friday.

Deputy Director of Public Instruction B.K.S. Vardhan said in a press release on Thursday that it would be held in 1,148 primary and 387 high schools in the district. Admissions to LKG and UKG classes would begin in government schools from this year.

Ten teams of officials had been formed to inspect schools and verify the availability and usage of infrastructure. A road map had been given to each team mentioning the location of schools. The inspection would begin on Saturday at 9 a.m. and would continue till June 8. Similar inspections would be held randomly throughout the academic year, he said.

The team would inspect the condition of the classroom, library, computer and science laboratory, toilets, availability of drinking water, distribution of mid-day meals and cleanliness on the school premises. They would also check the attendance register and the implementation of the ‘sethu bandhu’ programme. The team members would have to submit a report by June 15.
