Activists of the Students Federation of India staged a protest in front of Tumkur University against the increase in fees for degree courses here on Wednesday. District secretary of SFI E. Shivanna alleged that the university authorities had increased the fees which will affect poor students and also those from rural areas. He said that the fees hike is 90 per cent per semester for degree courses. A memorandum was submitted to Vice-Chancellor of Tumkur University S.C. Sharma who told the agitators that the matter will be placed before the Syndicate.
