A dog bit off more than it could chew when it brought a severed human head to Bangalore University’s Jnanabharathi campus on Thursday.

Shocked students called the police who launched a search operation and found the decomposed, headless body of a middle-aged man in the wooded part of the campus.

Police said the dog may have partially eaten the head, leaving an eye and hair intact.

Police suspect the man might have committed suicide as they found a rope nearby. “It is also possible he might have been murdered and the body hanged,” a police official said.

The police have sent the body for autopsy and are going through records of missing persons to establish the identity of the deceased.
