HUBLI: As many as 150 woman delegates from Hubli, Bangalore and Mysore railway divisions of South Western Railway participated in the two-day seminar on “Women empowerment” and a photo exhibition, which concluded here on Friday.

South Western Railway had organised the seminar here as part of the International Women’s Day celebrations under the aegis of the Central Staff Benefit Fund.

Experts from various fields including principal of JSS Law College, Hubli, Veena Madhav Tonapi; gynaecologist Jamuna, psychiatrist Mahesh Desai and chartered accountant Chandrashekhar R. Dhavalagi presented technical papers covering a wide range of topics concerning working.

At the photo exhibition titled “Women empowerment: ladders of success” over 150 photographs giving an account of the challenging working environment of women employees of SWR were displayed.

General Manager of SWR Kuldeep Chaturvedi, who inaugurated the seminar, said that the Railway Board had given a special sanction of Rs. 5 lakh under the Central Staff Benefit Fund to be used exclusively for various activities related to empowerment of women.
