To register their opposition to the ‘made snana' ritual and other forms of discrimination, as many as 136 seers from the Nidumamidi Math will stage a mass protest at Freedom Park on Monday. Around 19 women religious leaders will also take part.

Speaking at a press conference held here on Thursday, the former Minister B.T. Lalitha Nayak said the government should ban the ritual, as several inhuman practices have been banned in the past. Despite many protests, the government is still hesitating to take a firm decision on the issue, she said.

C.S. Dwarakanath, former chairperson of the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission and others were present.
