BANGALORE: A swamiji who has an ashram in Kumbalgodu near Bidadi on the outskirts of Bangalore on Thursday petitioned the Karnataka High Court for quashing criminal proceedings registered against him in a magisterial court in Bangalore.
The petitioner, S.K. Swamiji better known as Sanathana Subramanya Swamiji of Sree Sudarshan Vidyapeetha in Kumbalgod, said the Bidadi police had filed a complaint against him before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM).
He said the Station House Officer of Bidadi police station had filed a chargesheet against him saying that he had encroached upon 1.02 acres of government land. The swamji denied any encroachment and said the police complaint was motivated. He urged the court to quash the proceedings initiated against him.
Justice Mohan Shantangouder adjourned hearing of the case.
