People from different walks of life attended the function
MANGALORE: Vidyasagara Tirtha of Krishnapur Mutt, who will be the next Paryaya swamiji, was given a public reception in Mangalore by the citizen's reception committee.
People from different walks of life attended the function. Felicitating the swamiji, Zilla Sahitya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said Udupi is still the religious and cultural headquarters of the undivided Dakshina Kannada district. The unique practice of Paryaya is eagerly awaited by the people of Mangalore and Dakshina Kannada district, he added.
He appealed to people to take part in the "Hore Kanike" procession, which will leave Mangalore for Udupi on January 16, two days prior to the Paryaya event.
Replying to the felicitations, the swamiji said it is the work of religious institutions to help people to spread peace and progress through prayers. Progress is possible only when there is peace in society and within every man and woman.
Nobody should shun away from their duties in search of peace, which is Lord Krishna's message in the Bhagavad Gita, he added.
