DAVANGERE: As part of Christmas and New Year celebrations, a cake exhibition will get under way here on Saturday. The exhibition has been organised by Aahar 2000.
The highlight of the exhibition will be a model of the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower created by a team of cake masters led by Kumar Belur and Ravindra Aralaguppi, an art teacherhere.
The model of the Taj hotel is about 8 and a half ft in height and 18 ft in width and has been prepared using over 700 kg of sugar apart from other ingredients.
The team has also created cake models of the Gateway of India as well as busts of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Hemant Karkare, Vijay Salaskar and Ashok Kamte, who were killed in the Mumbai terror attacks.
G.V. Ramesh of Aaahar 2000 told presspersons here on Friday that the team had been sent to Mumbai two months ago to study the structure of the Taj hotel.
He said that the team took over a month to prepare the cake model.
The team has also created cake models of animals including a lion, tiger and elephant.
The cake exhibition would be held till January 5, Mr. Ramesh said and added that it would be extended if there was demand.
