Police personnel manning the gates of the Vidhana Soudha will no longer ask you to open the boot of your car. Instead, they will use a sophisticated equipment to scan the entire vehicle before letting the vehicle into the premises. This is one of the many measures proposed for heightening security at the power installations, including the Vikasa Soudha and the High Court.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Vidhana Soudha-Security) S. Lakshman Singh told The Hindu that a proposal has been sent to the chairperson of the Legislative Council to install about 54 closed circuit television cameras in the Legislators’ Home also.

Besides, half of the 69 CCTV cameras in the Vidhana Soudha would be replaced with new ones. There are also proposals to get sophisticated hand-held and baggage scanners and metal door detectors, he added.
