BANGALORE: A gang of dacoits reportedly waylaid four employees of a security agency and made away with Rs. 41 lakh in cash in Peenya here on Tuesday.

According to the police, the four personnel, including an armed security guard, from CMS Security were carrying cash in two bags in a car.

The money, meant to be deposited in a bank, had been collected from four petrol stations and a private hospital.

While Rs. 41 lakh was kept in one bag, the other bag contained Rs. 25 lakh.

The bag containing Rs. 25 lakh was kept in the storage space at the rear end of the car.

The five-member dacoit gang, which came in a car, blocked the way of the security agency’s car near Ayyappa temple on Pipeline Road in Jalahalli.

The gang members threatened the personnel with machetes and swords and snatched the bag containing Rs. 41 lakh.

The guard with the gun could not operate the weapon, according to the police.

The accused went away in the car along with the cash. The Peenya police have launched a search for the persons involved in the incident.

Cash missing

In another case, two persons diverted the attention of a granite shop owner and took away a bag containing Rs. 3 lakh in cash near Agara Junction here.

The police said that Sunil, a resident of H.S.R. Layout I Sector, stopped his car at a temple near Agara Junction and went in for darshan.

When he was about to start the car, a person came there and told him that five Rs. 10 notes had fallen on the ground.

Sunil came out of the car to collect the currency notes and when he returned, he found that the bag containing Rs. 3 lakh in cash was missing.


The Jnanabharati police have arrested four persons allegedly involved in several incidents of theft of mobile phones from shops and recovered 26 phones from them.

While they recovered 12 phones from Ravikumar (25) and Rangaswamy (24), 26 phones were recovered from Azgar (23) and Ravi (19).
