The second phase of the Census enumeration, called the Population Enumeration phase, will be conducted in Mysore district from February 9 to 27.

The first phase of the exercise, called the House Listing and Housing Census, was conducted between April and July in 2010. In this phase, information on housing, household amenities and socio-economic and cultural profile of citizens were collected.

Larger responsibility

The Mysore district administration on Thursday said the enumerators had the larger responsibility of collecting accurate information from the citizens in the second phase.

Inaugurating a three-day training programme for chief trainers of Census Enumeration at the office of the Deputy Commissioner here on Thursday, Additional Deputy Commissioner C.G. Betsurmath said, “The Directorate of Census Operations, Government of Karnataka, had expressed its happiness over the manner in which the first phase work was successfully done in the district.”

Dr. Betsurmath told the chief trainers to collect information as per the prescribed guidelines, and asked them to get their doubts (with regard to the exercise) cleared at the training sessions.

The chief trainers have to, in turn, train the enumerators who will conduct door-to-door visits. District Statistical Officer Dhanush, officials from the Directorate of Census Operations, and 74 master trainers were present.

The houseless population will be counted on the night of February 28.
