SHIMOGA: A branch of the Shimoga Central Cooperative Bank (SDCC) will be inaugurated by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa at Vidyanagar here on September 13. This will be the 23rd branch of the bank.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, president of the bank R.M. Manjunath Gowda said that this would be the first all-woman branch of the bank.

Mr. Gowda said that the bank had provided Rs. 150 crore as agricultural loans to farmers in the current financial year, which was well above the target of Rs. 120 crore.

He said that Rs. 113 crore had been disbursed as personal loans to customers for the purchase of jewellery, vehicles, and houses.

He said that all 22 branches of the bank had been computerised with the approval of the Department of Cooperation and several steps had been taken to provide fast service to customers. Mr. Gowda said the bank had made a profit of Rs. 435 crore.
