BANGALORE: The newly-established International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, will mark the foundation of its campus in Bangalore with “Science without Boundaries”, an inaugural five-day event to be held at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) from December 27 to 31.

According to a press statement, the foundation stone would be unveiled by scientist C.N.R. Rao in the presence of Nobel Laureate Professor David Gross on December 28 at 4 p.m. at the J.N. Tata Auditorium. Foundation Stone Remarks by Sir Michael Atiyah will also be read out.

The academic programme will consist of scientific talks by leaders in traditional areas of basic sciences as well as in interdisciplinary areas. There will be two panel discussions on interdisciplinary research.

The ICTS was founded in 2007. It is conceived to contribute to the growth of excellence in the basic sciences through its programmes, interactions and cross-fertilisation between disciplines. It will foster research, be a resource for high level education and training and a node for scientific information and values, added the press statement.
