U.R. Rao to deliver keynote address on “Science and Technology for Human Welfare”
Senior scientists to deliver lectures in four technical sessions that will be held in two days
Gulbarga: The two-day 2nd Science and Technology Congress organised jointly by the Karnataka Science and Technology Academy and Gulbarga University on the theme “Science and Technology for Human Welfare” will be held in the main campus of Gulbarga University in Gulbarga from Wednesday.
Scientists from different centres of higher education, research centres and universities from across the country will participate in the congress. Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa will inaugurate the congress. Science and Technology Minister Anand Vasant Asnotikar, Higher Education Minister Aravind Limbavali, Cooperation Minister Lakshman Savadi, Chairman of the Karnataka Science and Technology Academy U.R. Rao will attend.
Life Time Achievement Award will be conferred on renowned scientist Roddam Narasimha during the inauguration of the congress. And, Director of the Indian Institute of Science P. Balaram will be awarded an honorary doctorate by Gulbarga University.
Prof. U.R. Rao will deliver the keynote address on “Science and Technology for Human Welfare”.
Vice-Chancellor of Gulbarga University B.G. Mulimani said that four technical sessions will be held in which several senior scientists will deliver lectures.
Prof. P. Balaram will deliver a lecture on “Science and Technology and the advances made in the field of academics”. Vice-Chancellor of Karnataka State Veterinary Science University Suresh S. Honnappagol will speak on the “Role of Veterinary Science and Technology in the Development the Society”. Environmental Scientist D. Prahalad will speak on “Diversity of Animals in the Environment”. A Science and Technology exhibition will be held on the occasion.
