HASSAN: Yoganarasimha Education Society felicitated eminent musician Vidyabhushana in Kala Mandir in Hassan on Sunday under the "Guruvandana" programme. The music programme by Vidyabhushana was organised to raise funds for the First Grade Degree College building in Gorur.

Inaugurating the programme, Vidyabhushana advised people to donate liberally for the proposed college building so that quality education could be imparted in rural areas. Swami Somasunder Perumal said it would be better to start a school instead of constructing 10 temples.

Shivalinga Swami of Tanneer Math lauded Vidyabhushana and said his music was divine. His voice was that of a Nightingale and music was God's gift to him. All his devotional songs conveyed a message. The music recital, which went on for two and half hours, left the audience spellbound. He sang songs such as "Maneyinda Santosha Kelavarige Lokadolu, Dhanadinda Santosha Kelavarige Lokadolu, Vanitheyarinda Kelavarige Santosha lokadolu, Inithu Santosha Avarigaadare, Ninna nenevo Santosha Enagagali Ranga Vittala", "Deva Ninna Bhakuthi Kandare Baaradu". He was accompanied on violin by V.M.S. Govindaswamy, V. Sainath on mrudangam and M.R. Manjunath on ghatam.
