Condemning the former MLC Vijay Sankeshwar for his remarks against the RSS, Karnataka State Secondary School Teachers’ Association north Karnataka convener R.M. Kuberappa described Mr. Sankeshwar as an “opportunist”.

Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, Mr. Kuberappa wanted to know why Mr. Sankeshwar waited so long to resign from the Bharatiya Janata Party if he was so bothered by the RSS.

He accused the former MLC of playing caste politics, and held him responsible for his defeat in the 2010 election from the teachers’ constituency, although he (Mr. Kuberappa) was the official BJP candidate.

He warned Mr. Sankeshwar that he would lose if he contested elections on a Karnataka Janata Paksha ticket.
