Saniha , which is being touted as a romantic film by the team involved in its production, will hit the screens on February 24.

The film, based on a true story from Davangere, has been produced by Rajeshwari M. Viraktamath of Lokapur (Bagalkot district) under the banner “Choudeshwari Devi Combines” promoted by a lime stone mining businessman Murugesh M. Viraktamath.

The producer has cast her son Mallikarjun Viraktamath as the hero of the film with the screen name ‘Abhay'.

Abhay told presspersons here on Sunday that Saniha was his first film. Having taken part in theatre activities during school days, Abhay underwent a three-month course in acting in a film institute run by Ninasam artistes in Bangalore before facing the camera for the first time. He said that the film was based on a true story that happened in 1994 and was a family entertainer, with five songs. The film was shot predominantly in locations at Badami, Pattadakallu, Mysore, Bidadi and Goa.

Mahesh Chinmaya, who has worked with Ravichandran in several films as associate director, has directed the film, which has two women protagonists played by Divya Sridharan and Bimbika. Divya Sridharan said it was her second Kannada film and would be soon shooting for Kashinath's film 12 AM.

Mr. Murugesh said the film had come out well and depending on the response for their first film, they would decide on their next plan.

The cast includes Shobharaj, Harish Rai, Rekha Das, Chitra Shenoy, Ninasam Ashwath, Raju Talikoti, and Usha Jevoor.
