MYSORE: A rally to create awareness about animal rights and ahimsa will be taken out from Mysore in a bid to prevent mass animal slaughter that takes place at Kappadi near K.R. Nagar in the district.

Organised by the Akhila Karnataka Prani Daya Sangha, the rally will be flagged off on Thursday at 10.30 a.m.

It will end at Kappadi where a jatra festival will culminate on March 21 with mass killing of animals, in the run up to the Ugadi festival.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner P. Manivannan in a press release has cautioned the public against any violation of the law against animal sacrifice and said the authorities will crack down on those violating the Karnataka Prevention of Animal Sacrifices Act, 1959 and the High Court orders.
