Doraiswamy to inaugurate the function

Several seminars to be held on the occasion

Bijapur: The 10th anniversary celebrations of Bhimanadhi Neeru Rakshana Samiti, which came into existence to pressure the Government to initiate necessary action against the illegal storage of water by Maharashtra, would be celebrated for three days from January 8 at Sri Bhimashankar Sugar Factory at Margur village in Indi taluk of Bijapur district.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, samiti president Panchappa Kalburgi said the celebrations would be inaugurated by freedom fighter H.S. Doraiswamy.

District in-charge Minister Govind Karjol will be the chief guest.

The former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda would preside over the programme and Sri Siddeshwar Swamiji of Gyanyogashram of Bijapur would be present. Seminars will be organised on “Utilisation of River Water and Development of Irrigation”, “Traditional Farming” and “Rural Development”. The former Irrigation Minister H.K. Patil, farmers’ leader Kurubur Shantkumar and former Minister P.G.R. Sindhia will participate.

In the valedictory function, the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumarswamy will be the chief guest and Ramesh Jigajinagi, MP, will preside over the function.
