: Indian Air Force units in Bangalore marked the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Force on October 8, with remembrances of airmen’s sacrifices, health camps and get-togethers.
At the Headquarters Training Command, Mekhri Circle, the day began with Air Marshal Paramjit Singh Gill, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, placing a wreath at the war memorial, the Ministry of Defence said. Air Marshal Gill later read out messages received from the President, Vice-President, Prime Minister, Defence Minister, Minister of State for Defence and the Chief of the Air Staff. The Air Force Station Chimney Hills, which is operationally under the Southern Air Command based in Thiruvananthapuram, organised a ‘Run for fun’, medical camp and a musical evening for air warriors and their families. The Station Commander, Group Captain S.K. Jha, administered oath to all personnel.
Governor H.R. Bhardwaj accompanied by his wife, Prafulata, addressed air warriors at the Air Force Command Hospital on the old HAL Airport Road and went round the cancer ward.Ms. Bhardwaj visited the hospital unit of the Air Force Wives Welfare Association and interacted with families of personnel at the children’s ward.
