BANGALORE: In an interesting development, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders in Bangalore on Wednesday reportedly to brief them about the episode of H. Halappa quitting as Minister following charges of rape.

According to sources in the Bharatiya Janata Party, the RSS leaders advised the Chief Minister to desist from openly defending the former Food and Civil Supplies Minister, who is now facing a probe. They are learnt to have suggested that law should be allowed to take its own course and that the party should respond only in accordance with the outcome of the probe.

The RSS leaders' reported advise has assumed importance in the wake of several party leaders, including the Chief Minister, publicly defending Mr. Halappa.
