The Indian Society of Agriculture Economics (ISAE), Mumbai, has conferred the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award on R.S. Deshpande, Director, Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore, and Y.K. Alagh, former member of the Planning Commission and the former Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, for their contributions to agriculture.

Function

C. Ramaswamy, president, ISAE, gave away the award at the recently held 71 {+s} {+t} annual conference of ISAE at University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad.

Prof. Deshpande has been working in agricultural economics for the last 35 years.

Prof. Alagh has authored several books on agricultural policy. Presently, he is Chairman of Institute of Rural Management, Anand, Gujarat.
